How many of us have cursed a Stinging nettle plant as we brushed up alongside it? I know I certainly have, and it wasn’t until I became a Herbalist and Naturopath that I learnt about it’s nutritional and medicinal properties. These teachings were so important for my understanding and appreciation of a deeply nourishing herb that is a staple in my personal and professional Apothecary, and now you can join Sammy on this herbal adventure to learn more about foraging for this amazing plant too!
On this adventure, we appreciate why nettles are important, how to neutralise the sting, and 2 ways you can ingest this herb in time-honoured recipes are shared.

“I have just read Alyson Maier’s second book Plantain Medicine, the follow up to Dandelion medicine and what an absolutely delightful way to share with our children the ancient wisdom of plant medicine. My little friends that I shared the story with loved the adventures of the superbly illustrated characters and were so excited about going out into nature to discover the plants and create their own medicines. Led to a wonderful discussion on when to eave it in the Earth, knowing it’s there for when it is needed. I highly recommend this series and look forward to book 3 and 4 coming out soon.”

I had to share: The other day I purchased her Yarrow medicine after she asked about “helpful plants.” Today she came running inside after playing and told me she was bleeding but she wanted to go back outside and try a yarrow spit poultice. So I showed her the yarrow in my garden and handed her some leaves. She made a poultice, put it on the wound. We talked a few moments and when she looked down she yelled “it stopped the bleeding! It worked!!” The look in her eyes was pure wonder. Thank you for writing your books, I can not wait to gift her your others.
